Pisa Airport to San Casciano without a car

Car is not strictly necessary to reach San Casciano in Val di Pesa. You can get a train or a bus from Pisa Airport to Florence central railway station and then a BuSITAlia/ACV coach to San Casciano.

By train

The railway platform outside the arrival terminal of Pisa airport is no more in service since the end of 2013, the station previously was called Pisa Aeroporto and used to be connected to Pisa Centrale station in 5 minutes by a Trenitalia train. The railway has been dismissed and temporarily substituted, till December 2015, by a shuttle bus service provided by PisaMover, the stop is located near platform 14. From the end of December 2015 a people mover will start its service in place of the old railway, connecting the airport to the central railway station of Pisa. The bus+train tickets are sold inside the airport at the information point (they apply a commission of 1 Euro), buy a ticket to Firenze Santa Maria Novella. Remember to validate the ticket before getting on board. Firenze Santa Maria Novella is the last stop, you can't do wrong. The whole trip bus&train lasts from 1h10m to 1h40m, cost 9.30 Euro (price as October 2014). For the timetable check trenitalia website.

Starting its service in 2016, the new PisaMover shuttle will connect the Galilei airport to the central railway station of Pisa, with departures every 5 or 8 minutes starting from 6:00 to 24:00.

By coach line

A direct and cheaper connection from Pisa's Airport to Firenze SMN is provided by those companies: Terravision (one way 5 Euro, round trip €10) and Autostradale (one way €7.50 Euro, return €12), the latter has got a partnership with Ryanair, so you can buy their tickets on the aeroplane.

Once you have arrived in Florence, you will have to take a coach to San Casciano.
